Much needed relief for flood victims

27 October 2013 By Port Elizabethan

Ward 31 ANC volunteers today provided much needed relief to fellow community members in various wards throughout the city.

According to volunteer, Siya Vazi, just over 800 families received blankets, bread and soup starting from Missionvale to Zwide and all the way to Khayamnandi in Despatch.

The programme was led by ANC regional secretary Zandisile Qupe together with ANC deployees and ANC volunteers in the various communities.

A 34 year old visually impaired resident, Ntombikayise Sizani said she was truly touched by the care shown by her fellow residents through their political party, the ANC. “I feel good; our blankets got wet last night and this morning, due to the floods.”

Nandipha Witbooi, 23 and and her toddler stay with her brother Zukisa Mankabane. Mankabane is the zone chairperson in the area and said he was proud to a leader of the ANC in the area because it has proved once again that it cares for vulnerable people.

ANC PR Councillor deployed in Missionvale said we could not stay comfortably in our homes while many of our fellow community members were suffering in the rain. We thank our members in the various areas visited who have shown solidarity with the flood victims.
