Greetings Alan
Another good day of news from Port Elizabeth (Ed.: See 4 July 2014)
I am impressed with the NEBD item – again. I really like the link between the North End Lake and Stadium and the “beach”. Most imaginative thinking and certainly worth being subjected to a high level think tank. Very attainable in my mind because of the high level of residential units that would be created – without which these days practically no development proposal is financial viable.
The political will to MAKE it work also has to be in place. In this regard an essential key is security and safety.
I was in the original think tanks for the Durban proposal to link the beachfront with the International Conference Centre and Hilton Hotel. The whole thing has failed dismally because of the levels of crime. It is far too dangerous for anyone, especially visitors to Durban, to walk the 150/200 metres at any time of the day and in particular at night.
Have a good day.
Lance
