Nelson Mandela Bay’s best hope of future Premier Soccer League (PSL) participation, Bay Stars, are hot on the heels of experienced FC Tornado in the hunt for the top spot of the Eastern Cape leg of the Vodacom League.
This comes after East London’s FC Tornado drew 1-1 against Cacadu United on Saturday and Bay Stars were denied the opportunity to score more goals on Friday night.
Lady Grey’s Mighty Greens did not pitch up for their scheduled league match at the Westbourne Oval. By forfeiting the match Bay Stars gained three points and two goals were added to the team’s tally. Besides a 100% home record, Bay Stars could feel a bit hard done by about the missed opportunity since they regularly score more than two goals on home soil.
Stars and FC Tornado both have 46 points on the log with Tornado leading on goal difference.
Bay Stars Managing Director Tony Lovegrove said he is very happy that the team is still giving a great account of themselves and efforts will be intensified to score more goals during the remaining seven games of the season.
Bay Stars’ next match is against Cloud 9 in King Williams Town on Saturday, 21 April at 15:00.
