Michelle Buxton

7 October 2013 By Alan Straton

Join Port Elizabeth and MyPE in congratulating Mover and Shaker, Michelle Buxton:

Michelle Buxton
Michelle Buxton

Former Port Elizabeth resident and Collegiate Schools pupil, Michele Buxton’s company, Toolbox Marketing – an international destination marketing agency based in Bardwell, Suffolk in the UK – recently pledged their support to the Ubuntu Foundation.

Toolbox Marketing – established in 2000 – will offer marketing and mentoring support and hopes to be able to offer work experience to Ubuntu graduates.

Michelle says of Ubuntu; “This is a charity that gives people the tools and life skills to achieve their potential whatever their background.”

Michelle left Port Elizabeth to visit her husband’s immediate family in Norfolk in England wanting to experience the world only to like the area so much that they stayed.

Of her time at Collegiate, Michelle says; “I am a Collegiate girl through and through from Sub A through to Matric in 1981. The school gave me a very firm foundation of discipline, community and education. The ethos of Facta non Verba – deeds not words – is another reason I got involved in Ubuntu – to make a difference through actively working with the team.”

Michelle’s involvement with the Ubuntu Foundation came about through close friends of hers who travel every year from the UK to Port Elizabeth in order to train the staff and teachers at the Ubuntu centre.

Buxton’s brother, Mike Burmeister still stays in Port Elizabeth and she hopes to visit PE later this year to chase up some good childhood memories of walking in Happy Valley and on Pollok Beach.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
