New Brighton born Awu hails from a sporting family with a footballing father, a mother who played netball and a brother who participated in various forms of martial arts.

While attending Pearson High School in Port Elizabeth, Awu was selected for the hockey and football first teams, and even turned out for the under-17 provincial football team.

In 2005 she finished her sports management degree at NMMU and shortly thereafter enrolled for an internship at EP Rugby. That turned into a public relations and marketing position at the now defunct Southern Spears.

Chief Cook, Bottle Washer and Broom Mechanic at MyPE
Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
