People of the Eastern Cape, get out your running shoes, apply your sunscreen, grab a friend or family member and put on your biggest smile because this local event is going to be one to remember.

On the 19th August 2018, Zsports and Medihelp Medical Scheme will be the proud host of the annual Medihelp Nelson Mandela Bay Train Race, beginning at 9am at the Port Elizabeth Railway Station and ending at 1pm at the Uitenhage Railway Station.

If you’re looking for some adventure, then look no further, as this is the perfect event to showcase your natural born talent by having some good old fashion fun. The race will not only provide some excellent exercise but also give you a run for your money, literally.

Be part of the chase by racing against a Metro Train and absorb the entire electric atmosphere that the community has to offer. This noble event will not only make you feel great on the outside by also on the inside, as the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa is the designated charity for this year.

The race aims to bring the community together, by providing you a chance to participate with friends, family, colleagues, social club and school relay teams, consisting of 5 runners and 1 mountain bike cyclist and for all teams to support CHOC.

Make your mark this year by adding some of your athletic spirit by taking part and reaching the finish line before the machine.

If you don’t consider yourself to be a sprinter, come down to the event anyway, as the public, sponsor representatives and VIPS will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Nelson Mandela Bay Train with a thrilling race, alongside the competing teams. Talk about the ride of a lifetime!

It’s a wonderful family affair and for first time train rider. Tickets for the train aren’t for the few, as there are 750 tickets available for purchase, but act quickly as it sells out fast.

If you’d like to take part in this amazing race, book your tickets now or sign up to be a volunteer and experience all the action behind the scenes while working as an enroute marshal or assisting the passengers on board the train.

Entries open today (Wednesday 23rd May) and are available from the Zsports website. Entries are free for Medihelp members. For more information on Medihelp Medical Scheme and to find out how to join visit visit www.medihelp.co.za.

Be part of this experience and receive all sorts of goodies, ranging from Medihelp Train Race t-shirts, lunch packs and goody bags. Contact Michelle at Zsports by visiting their website and clicking on their Contact Us page.

Whichever role you’ll be participating it, it’s guaranteed to make your day.
