Mboneni “Roger” Sikhakhane Chippa United’s new coach

26 June 2015 By Alan Straton

The Chippa United Board of Directors has announced Mboneni “Roger” Sikhakhane as head coach for the 2015/16 season. Roger will resume his duties with immediate effect.

The matter regarding Ernst Middendorp has been concluded and Roger will hit the ground running when he joins the team at its pre-season camp in CapeTown on 28 July.

Roger, who has been involved with the club in recent times, has always enjoyed good working relations with the Chilli Boyz and is committed to ensuring the club’s success in the Premier Soccer League.

The Chairman of Chippa United has expressed his thanks to the club’s supporters for their support and patience in the past few months as the club has undergone various challenges.

This will be Sikhhakhane’s third time in the revolving position which has seen eleven changes since July 2012. Sikhakhane was coach for a four week period from 13 September 2012 to 28 October 2012 having taken over from Julius Dube who had been in the hot seat for only three weeks – not enough time to polish your boots – and then Roger was coach from 4 September 2014 to 5 January 2015, making way for Ernst Middendorp.

The coach with the most time in the hot seat – at twenty weeks – was Serbian, Vladislav Heric. Romours that his interpreter being unavailable and he didn’t understand that he was fired after four weeks are not true!
