Maimane to attend public land hearings in East London

Tomorrow, Thursday 26 July 2018, Democratic Alliance (DA) Leader, Mmusi Maimane MP, will be part of the public land hearing engagements at the Orient Theatre in East London. Maimane will be accompanying members of the Gwatyu Communal Property Association (CPA) as they continue to fight for the land that they have lived on for decades. This fight for over 1500 Gwatyu residents to own and work the land that they live on shows the ANC governments failures to ensure black South Africans own land.

The DA’s pledge on land reform will always be for individuals to own, and if they so choose, work the land that they live on. State ownership of land takes us backwards, not forwards. The people of Gwatyu have been working this land for decades. It is our fight for them to be given rightful ownership of this land.

The Leader will be joined by DA Shadow Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Thandeka Mbabama MP, Buffalo City Coastal Constituency Leader, Kevin Mileham MP, Constituency Leader of Enoch Mgijima, Terri Stander MP and Chairperson of the Gwatyu Communal Property Association (CPA), Thembakazi Matsheke.
