On the eve of the 2016 Municipal Elections National DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane addressed the media on the Donkin Reserve in Port Elizabeth.
Talking in the shadow of a a monument to love and surrounded by reminders of a statesman who loved South Africa, Maimane was sure to get a good turnout of scribes.

“Our growth across the country has brought a deep discomfort for our opponents. They have come in this campaign seeking to divide us on the basis of race.”
“Never in my life have I heard a more racially divisive campaign from the ANC as I have heard in this recent one.”

“I voted in Dobsonville for the first time in 1999. We knew what we had to do, we had to vote for the party that liberated us – the party of Nelson Mandela. There was no debate, we were ANC and the ANC was us and that is how everybody I knew voted. We did it for Madiba. Back then as young man barely 20 years old I could not see a day when the ANC would abandon it’s values, abandon it’s people and abandon me”
“I would hate for the people of South Africa to be deceived in the manner that the ANC is intent on deceiving the people of this country. Jacob Zuma has failed to offer the people of South Africa anything substantive, tangible and prospective. Instead he has relied on the ancestors, on using God, similar to how he has defended his entire record of government.”
“If they (ANC) are serious about dealing with corruption let them deal with Jacob Zuma first.”
