Each year, Magnetic Storm supports a local school and their drama production. For 2015 it has provided the sound, lighting and AV equipment, as well as hosted workshops and provided mentorship so the students of Alexander Road High School have the skills to set-up and operate most of their production of Shrek the Musical, themselves.
With its opening night last night at the Savoy Theatre, the energy, anticipation and excitement was palpable amongst the cast and crew. “Being able to support the performing arts in Port Elizabeth is an honor. Especially to be able to provide our future talent with the guidance they need to create a successful production.” Commented Magnetic Storm Production Manager David Limbert.
“This is such an amazing opportunity for the students, and they have all learnt so much from all of the experts who have been part of creating the production.” Adds Stage Manager Gareth Van der Merwe. “To have nights sold out, and such buzz around the show is fantastic – we cannot wait to wow all our audiences.”
Tickets are available at Computicket.
