Love A Fair

Fall in love with a different kind of shopping and entertainment experience this Valentine’s Month, as Greenacres Shopping Centre launches A Love A Fair on February 9, 10 and 11.

More than a Valentine’s market where shoppers can find the perfect gift, the three-day event also includes a brand-new Mr & Miss Greenacres pageant, fashion show, live entertainment and lucky draws.

Organiser Elsje Smuts of True Blue Communication and Events said A Love A Fair was about creating an exciting experience for the public that added something different to the traditional retail space.

“The event will take place on the mezzanine parking level at the back of the centre and it’s going to be transformed into a beautiful space where people can enjoy the fun and romance of Valentine’s Month,” said Smuts.

The weekend entertainment line-up kicks off on the Friday with the opening of the market and performances by dancers from the Leanka Laubscher School of Dance.

On Saturday, the highlight will be the Mr & Miss Greenacres pageant at 1pm, where contestants from ages three to 19 years will strut their stuff in front of a panel of five celebrity judges that includes former Mr South Africa Armand du Plessis, Asande Snqobile Mchunu (Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa 2016), Llewellyn Barnard (Mr Talent Africa 2017), Brinley Geyer (Mej. Luister FM 2016 and Face of PE 2017) and Dr Crystal Watson.

The pageant will be preceded by a fashion show at 11am, presented by Gail Brown of Sophisticate Models.

Throughout the weekend, shoppers will be able to browse a variety of stalls and indulge their passion for everything from fine foods and fragrances to hobbies and crafts, clothing and accessories, and home décor. A number of Greenacres tenants will also showcase a selection of Valentine’s gifts at the market.

The market will trade from 12pm to 7pm on the Friday, from 9am to 5pm on the Saturday and from 9am to 1pm on Sunday. Entrance costs R20 per person with children under seven years free. Access to the mezzanine parking level is via the escalator near the Diplomat leather store.

Pageant contestants can enter at participating Greenacres fashion retailers, at Sophisticate Models or from 10am to 12pm on the morning of the event. Entry fee is R50 and contestants must come dressed in a smart casual, Valentine’s-inspired outfit.

A limited number of spaces are still available for potential stallholders, with the deadline for applications being January 19.
