Singer songwriter Laurie Levine, best known for her soulful voice and emotional lyrics, sets out once again to connect with her fans across the globe with her 2013 release, Border Crossing.
Since winning the Best Producer Award for Six Winters at the 2012 SAMA awards, Dan Roberts and Laurie Levine have teamed up once again to produce a groundbreaking fourth album which heralds a new direction.
While retaining her folk roots, Laurie has broadened her sound to embrace swamp rock and Memphis soul. Horns and soaring backing vocals provide an enigmatic backdrop to a collection of songs that mark Laurie’s maturity as a songwriter.
Levine’s fourth album, ‘Border Crossing’, weaves tales of travel, friendship and humanity into an exciting and bold musical offering.
Recorded during the first half of 2013 at Johannesburg’s Stoep Studio, the 11-track record displays Levine’s ongoing love affair with the folk and country that has driven her previous three albums – Unspoken (2007), Living Room (2009), and Six Winters (2011).
In support of the new album, released yesterday 9 September 2013, Laurie Levine is set to embark on a nationwide album tour. She will be performing in Port Elizabeth on Friday 13 September.
Laurie is based in Johannesburg and studied at Wits University.
