Dear Editor
The DA-led Kouga Municipality has again achieved the prestigious Blue Flag status for Dolphin Beach in Jeffreys Bay and Cape St Francis Beach. This recognition, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education through WESSA, is a testament to the DA-led municipality’s unwavering commitment to excellence in environmental management, safety, and service delivery.
As one of South Africa’s premier beaches, Dolphin Beach has long been an iconic destination for the global surfing community. With Jeffreys Bay recently securing a coveted spot on the 2025 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour, Dolphin Beach symbolises Kouga’s success in attracting international tourism and stimulating local economic growth.
The Blue Flag status further elevates Jeffreys Bay’s appeal, guaranteeing world-class standards in water quality, environmental education, and safety that ensure an outstanding experience for surfers and beachgoers alike.
This achievement reflects the DA-led Kouga Municipality’s dedication to effective governance and sustainable service delivery, prioritising clean, accessible, and safe beaches.
Through responsible management and a commitment to excellence, Kouga has created a recreational space supporting environmental preservation and economic opportunity, reinforcing its reputation as a global surf destination.
The DA is immensely proud of Kouga’s leadership, which has demonstrated the positive impact that good governance can have on South African municipalities.
The Blue Flag status is not just an accolade, it is a tangible example of how DA-led service delivery can enhance quality of life, promote tourism, and boost local economies.
We remain dedicated to supporting Kouga and municipalities across the country in raising the standard of service delivery, ensuring that residents benefit from clean, safe, and sustainable public spaces.
