Julia Modise-Simelane

8 February 2013 By Alan Straton

Join Port Elizabeth and MyPE in congratulating Mover and Shaker, Julia Modise-Simelane from Goodyear:

Goodyear is pleased to welcome Julia Modise-Simelane to the position of Group Human Resources Director. Julia has extensive local and international experience, and moved into the post following Paul Sherman’s reassignment to the position of Director Corporate Compliance and Ethics for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.

Julia joined Goodyear from the position of Human Resources Director for Cummins Africa, a global corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies. She joined Cummins in 2004 and, aside from a variety of related assignments during her career there, spent 18 months at the group’s head office in Columbus, Indiana in the United States as Global Human Resources Operational Excellence Manager.

Julia holds a Diploma in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Science Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, United States. She is presently completing a postgraduate diploma in leadership through Stellenbosch University. She has on-the-floor experience with South African trade unions, and knowledge of the labour laws in a number of African countries. She played a key role in Cummin’s business growth strategy in Africa, successfully implemented a continent-wide HIV/AIDS strategy, and supported Cummins South Africa’s BBBEE programme.

Julia is married to Moses and has two sons, aged 11 and 3. She relocated from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth at the end of 2012.
