What started off as an idea, swiftly evolved into a full business plan in a matter of hours for Jean-Pierre Malgas at Engen’s annual entrepreneurial competition and workshop held on August 15 at the Feather Market Centre in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Jean-Pierre Malgas went on to make it to the semi-finals of the competition in Johannesburg during October 2015.
The purpose of the Engen Pitch & Polish competition is to help small business owners grow their businesses, by providing expert advice on how to polish their business pitches. It is an opportunity to have their ideas brainstormed and tested, to learn valuable business lessons and gain tools to create a lucrative business model.
“It is amazing how my idea evolved as the day went on,” he explained. Malgas and fellow contestants John Samson, Noxolo Ncayo, Thulani Mkholi and Lungisa Lutshaba presented their pitches to a panel of judges, including Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber Project Manager Glenton de Kock.
