Dear Editor
If one can honestly analyse the self-paralysis of the Eastern Cape, it is primarily based on our mindless jealousy for each other as we are definitely not bereft of great expansionary ideas; even with our albeit minimal natural minerals being left untouched.
Just take a cursory look at our ill-thought stratagems like the bigotry and seemingly vendetta-driven name changes of Gqeberha & Kariega, enticement and killing of e-hailing services’ drivers, extortion namely ‘protection fees’ by envious lay-abouts and/or freeloaders, tender system murders, ‘decolonialisation of education’ childish clarion calls by snooty black educationists, not forgetting the obssession with the building of ‘smart cities’, ostensibly to give our unrepentant White Supremacists a two middle finger salute for arrogating themselves into disregarding non-Aryans as of subhuman stock compared to themselves through their repetetive, snobbish & disparaging history lessons of White Supremacy versus stereotypical Black Indolence etc.
Being seemingly biased because of my Christian upbringing though, it seems that Money, Status and Materialism have therefore even replaced the centuries’ old Christian trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; even among our born-again Christians. By the way, I have to repeat that Black Educational Snobs [BES] and Verkrampte Witmense [VW] aka White Supremacists belong to the very same WhatsApp group however much they can deny that behavioural pattern, that entails among others: [1] Prejudice that is based on a deluded sense of superiority [2] An often unfounded sense of entitlement.
One would therefore find that the rest of the nation that does not fall under these two above-mentioned polarising stumbling blocks to the entire South African prosperity, consequently suffer under-development and neglect mainly because of childish mud-throwing between the proverbial Ebony & Ivory egotists. Hence someone opined that, most of the world’s problems are caused by people who want to be important, apparently thereby describing our very own narcissists [people with a mental health condition which makes them have an increasingly high sense of their own importance] that we are often subjected to and which most of our non-reading, let alone non-researching, citizenry deem worthy of being seen as role models, idols or even worshiped.
