Jack and the Beanstalk Helps Hannah Hear

2 December 2011 By Alan Straton

Don’t let the kids miss out on the annual PEMADS pantomime taking place at the Pemads Little Theatre! This year’s story is Jack and the Beanstalk, and promises to be a whole lot of fun with an exclusive gala evening to be held for a special little girl who has stolen the hearts of many in Port Elizabeth.

Hannah Denise Marshall, born 24 November 2010 was diagnosed with severe hearing loss in both ears as well as an eye condition called Nystagmus. Hannah’s parents and medical team have established that she is a good candidate for cochlear implants, but the cost of this medical procedure exceeds R150 000. The “Help Hannah Hear” campaign has been set up to help raise funds for the operations which need to take place within the next year in order for Hannah to stay within the developmental norms for kids her age.

The Pemads team has dedicated its gala evening on 13 December to raising funds for Hannah. The traditional family pantomime is directed by well known Port Elizabeth drama teacher, Sharon Rother, with musical direction by Bronwyn Maree and choreography by Jerry Fortuin.

The gala evening will be held on Tuesday, 13 December in aid of Help Hannah Hear. The tickets for the show are half-price at just R45 per person, and can be bought from Cathrin on 079 676 6487. Show starts at 19h00.

Other shows will run from December 3 to 17 and tickets can be purchased through Computicket for R85.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
