This is what happens when your country has held First World status for a while – everyone takes everything seriously and, in this case, you completely lose touch with nature.

I am sure that even the most brain dead Port Elizabeth Citizen (I am purposefully excluding Despatch and Uitenhage in this!) will recognise the image below for what it actually is.

Animal Toy Stick Patent Application
It looks like a STICK to me!

Back in 1999 Patent number 6360693 was filed on 2 December 1999 by Ross Eugene Long III for the patent rights to the above “Animal Toy”. It took until 26 March 2002 to refuse the 20 claims by the the ‘inventor’.

Why the patent office didn’t toss the application out the door and make Ross run and fetch it immediately is anyone’s guess.
