Southern Kings Director of Rugby, Alan Solomons, has confirmed that both Siyanda Grey and Steven Sykes would not be up for selection for the match against the DHL Stormers, following injuries they sustained during the match against the Cheetahs on the weekend.
“Siyanda has a hamstring injury and will be out for three weeks, while Sykes has sustained a shoulder injury that will see him out for four weeks,” he said.
Solomons said the rest of the team had the usual knocks, bumps and bruises following the match, but there were no concerns at this stage.
Grey came off the field in the 54th minute, replaced by Shane Gates. Sykes stayed on field for the duration of the game, despite hurting his shoulder in the 67th minute, as the reserve bench had already been called up and there was no-one left to substitute for him.
Solomons said Kevin Buys, who had a slight rib injury, and Schalk Ferreira, who had a stiff back before the game against the Cheetahs, were being assessed by the medical team and undergoing a bit of rehabilitation, but would be eligible for selection.
