Independent telco seeks PE partnerships:

Partnering with like-minded PE firms is the fastest way Gauteng-based Otel will be able to achieve its mission of rolling out South Africa’s most affordable voice and data services in the Eastern Cape.

That’s the word from the independent telecoms firm’s CEO, Rad Jankovic, who says installing broadband Internet provided by fibre optic cable should be a major goal of local businesses. “Fibre cuts operating costs because it provides voice and data services at a fraction of the cost of copper-based, fixed-line infrastructure,” he says.

Otel is actively searching for local resellers to help it deliver uncapped fibre Internet from as little as R599 per month to the province’s data-starved businesses. “There is a general migration in the business ICT services market from analogue copper wire telecoms solutions located within the office environment to digital fibre solutions hosted offsite in the Cloud. This is where the next wave of opportunities are for savvy entrepreneurs,” says Mr Jankovic.

Otel is firmly on the partnership trail after recently acquiring fixed and wireless broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP), Jireh Technologies. This is in pursuit of the company achieving its vision of becoming a fully-fledged ICT systems integrator while continuing to add value to its business customers.
