Late this afternoon, after my day started at 1:00 am this morning, I answered the phone to Trish Difford – who can say no to that gravelly jazz voice?
And what did I say yes to? Get your mind out of the gutter you snipe thing you!
Trish is hosting a little shingding, an evening of food, drinks and laughter on Saturday 21 June 2014 – I did mention drink didn’t I?

And why? To help send a number of squash players to a National Tournament – players that her mother of 89 years young has helped develop.
BUT, I think the real reason she wants to get rid of her mom for a while is so that she can claim the pool back again!
On offer are Music, Sport (not water), Brainteasers, Movies & TV and great prizes.
Present your sorry self in your Funky Threadz at the Red Devil Clubhouse, between 9th & 10th Avenue, on Villiers Road, Walmer from 19:00 on clutching a grubby Hundred Bucks which will be whisked away from you at the door.
In return you will be presented with a Fat Cats donated meal of Thai Green Cashew Nut Chicken Curry presented with Coconut Basmati Rice or Durban Lamb Curry presented with Turmeric Lentil Rice and Sambals.
A cash bar will be available with all drinks plus mixers @ R 12.00 and R 20.00 for a double
Please communicate with Trish for catering and organising purposes on Trish.difford@telkomsa.net or 0826592069
Any donations or prizes are most welcome!
Trish says; “My Mother is 89 and still coaches schools squash every afternoon. She started developing players in SA about 25 years ago and gives an enormous amount of time and effort to keep many of these children off the streets and away from a life of crime and drugs. I am incredibly proud of her and her achievements.”
“EP Schools Squash is sending age group teams to various provinces for the SA Schools Interprovincial Tournaments starting on the 28th June. It will cost from R4,000 to R 6,000 per child and there are 10 disadvantaged players who have been selected for the team on merit but have no money and EP Squash has to fund them,” concluded Trish.
