Middle of the PSL log Maritzburg United have chosen to play three home games in Port Elizabeth and at today’s press conference the talk was all about Port Elizabeth being a traditional Kaiser Chief Fan base and about Maritzburg’s recent 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Supersport United on 14 October. Both sides went into this clash unbeaten.
Maritzburg United meet Amakhosi at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The Coach and players certainly come across as decent bunch of guys so I wish to place on the record that MyPE welcomes Coach Ian Palmer, Captain Fadlu Davids, Striker Diyo Sibisi and the rest of the team to the friendly city. If you get a chance, I would feel proud and privileged to pop down to the yacht club for a Fanta Brown with you guys.
Chiefs are currently second on the log with 19 points and Maritzburg United 8th with 13 points. Both have played 9 matches this season.
Maritzburg have been in Port Elizabeth since Saturday and coach, Ian Palmer says that to-morrow’s game is; “… not gonna be an easy game.” Prodded on his game plan, Palmer said; “Our strength is to keep it compact and to go back to basics.”
Asked about Maritzburg’s chances against the Amakhosi, Fadlu Davids said; “They have shown that they can be beaten and playing in front of a capacity crowd will be great motivation for the team.”
Striker Diyo Sibisi was adamant; “We have to win this game, even to-morrow I will score again.”
