Husband to apply for bail today

14 May 2015 By Alan Straton

Port Elilzabeth – Christopher Panayiotou, the husband of abducted and murdered Port Elizabeth school teach Jayde Panayiotou will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for an attempt at being released on bail.

Jayde Panayiotou, 29, was reported missing after she disappeared while waiting outside their home in Kabeha Park for her lift to Riebeeck Park High School on Tuesday, April 21.

She was found dead on the outskirts of the Kwanobuhle township in Uitenhage the following day.

Thando Siyoli, 31 and Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, 30, were also arrested.

Christopher Panayiotou, 28, had delivered a grief-stricken eulogy to her at her funeral, but this turned out to have been plagiarised.

The front row of the court room was reserved for family, and Christopher Panayiotou’s family put in a strong presence for him.

An application to allow photographers to take pictures is still to be heard.

Panayiotou’s defence attorney Alwyn Griebenow and advocate Terry Price arrived early for the case expected to be presided over by Magistrate Abigail Beaton.
