Dear Editor
As remarkable occurences [and people] tend to come in 3’s, the Weekend Post also fits that bill to a tee. The said newspaper’s 3 Editors that swam against the tide in publishing my seemingly controversial writings; namely Ric Wilson, Nwabisa Makunga and Rochelle de Kock, herein refers.
It should be taken into account that I am not a CODESA Posterboy, that is, an ANC Anointee and/or a South African White Capital Approved Individual, thereby meaning a pariah that is not supposed to be enriched nor protected according to an apparent Convention for a Democratic South Africa [CODESA] Directive and/or Resolution of around the year 1993 or so; as per any outsider that was not spoken for during the hand-over negotiations of the Republic of South Africa from a Minority Governance to the present day de facto Governing Cartel.
Ric Wilson put his proverbial head on block by publishing my justification in believing that my April 1996 True Love magazine’s Letter-Of-The-Month winning article, titled :- ‘Be Proud South Africa!’ was the inspiration behind the now popular Proudly South African tag line & resultant institution, Nwabisa Makunga entertaining the 20+ years’ over-due Woolhope Memorial Bridge idea that is in homage of the mostly Woolhope Secondary School pupils that passed away in a 1998 Scholar Transport accident and Rochelle de Kock publishing numerous letters of mine without doubting their authenticity & integrity in the Weekend Post.
To summarise my tribute to the Weekend Post, the newspaper has been a feature in my life since I was 7 years old or so whilst residing in my birth place of Koyana Street in Zwide township, as our baby sitter took us to a music concert that was held at Sisonke Community Hall, also in Zwide, wherein she wrongly & hilariously sang Brenda Fassie’s Weekend Special hit song repeatedly on that saturday afernoon as Weekend Post.
