Historic 92nd Annual Exhibition

The prestigious adjudicated Annual Exhibition has been a regular feature on the artEC (EPSAC) calendar for the last 92 years.

Being an open exhibition, with no restrictions on subject or medium, it always attracts a diverse collection of work for selection and show including sculpture, photography and painting.  Selection is set at a high standard and trophies are awarded for best work on show. This year’s selection panel, coordinated by Anthony Keogh, includes Emma Taggart, Ethna Frankenfeldt, Graham Jones and Marcus Neustetter.

The Exhibition will take place from Tuesday 30th August to Friday 10th September 2011.

The Opening Function which will be held on Tuesday 30th August 2011 5:30 for 6.00pm, will also celebrate the launch and completion of the Mural and Sculpture Garden Projects which have been commissioned by artEC and Mandela Bay Development Agency. Business Arts South Africa have also assisted artEC with funding for advertising of the projects.

Port Elizabeth residents and visitors, traveling up and down Central’s Bird Street and Cuyler Crescent would undoubtedly have noticed the colourful and creative transformation taking place on and around the artEC Gallery building. “Making Waves” The Sculpture in the Sculpture Garden was created by George Kockott of Driftwood Studios in East London and “Sibanye” (together as one) is the Andy Warhol inspired, POP art, Portrait Mural conceptualised and actualised by Port Elizabeth artists, Bongani Njalo and Gabriel Chaponda.
