Help For Businesses Needing To Reinvent Themselves – MyPR.co.za

29 May 2020 By Port Elizabethan

Help For Businesses Needing To Reinvent Themselves:

Business owners and leaders need to ask whether their customers still want their products or services in their current form – or at all – in the wake of the Covid-19 economic meltdown, says entrepreneur, business mentor and writer Ed Richardson.

He has published a low-cost marketing course in the form of a series of practical online classes to help business owners to reposition their companies following the disruption caused by Covid-19.

There is also a free 10-part introductory course.

“There are very few companies which will return to ‘business as usual’ in the foreseeable future.

“We all have to reinvent ourselves, and to do that we need to forget what we want to provide and instead understand what the market wants,” says Richardson, author of the Streetwise Guru “Marketing Guide to Reinventing Your Business”.

“One could say the course has been more than 30 years in the writing, because it distils the lessons I have learned from business gurus and the school of hard knocks.

“The Covid-19 shutdown gave me the opportunity to put the finishing touches to it, and to publish in order to help other business owners in South Africa and around the world to regain control of their futures.

“Our focus as ‘Streetsmart Gurus’ is to provide practical benefits to anyone doing our courses.

“As they work through the different sections of the marketing course, the business owners will be developing an implementable marketing and business plan.

“The two are inextricably linked. There is no point in marketing something which nobody wants to buy, and even less point in making it.

“Our classes help you to identify real opportunities in the market, and then how to reach those potential customers. It is a hybrid marketing and sales course, if you like”.

Richardson says he started developing the course long before the Covid-19 crisis because he saw many businesses (including his own) being threatened by trends such industry 4.0, globalisation (or the retreat into home markets), changes in consumer buying patterns and population shifts.

“There is only one way to identify the opportunities in these threats to your business – and that is to find out what the market wants.

“Marketing, for Streetwise Guru, is not some magic formula that has little or nothing to do with the only reason any business exists – to put money in the bank.

“It is all about finding out what the customer wants – and then telling them you have it!”
