Help feed 137 George soup kitchens to mark Mandela Day:

Residents of George and surrounds can make their Mandela Day contribution by helping to feed thousands of locals by supporting the 137 George Municipality soup kitchens.

Run by volunteers, the soup kitchens are feeding 10 000 people twice a day.

Algoa FM is collaborating with the municipality in its call for donations of ingredients.

A drive-through donation centre has been opened at the George City Hall, where people can drop off dry goods without having to leave their cars.

“Lending a helping hand in and around Algoa Country is what the station is about and this initiative does exactly that and more”, says Algoa FM marketing manager Lesley Geyer.
