Nelson Mandela Bay sports fans can expect an action-packed upcoming rugby season as months of planning and lobbying for top flight rugby in the city bear fruit.

From June, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will host an International friendly, an International Test match, Currie Cup Premier Division games and two Super Rugby friendlies.

On June 10th the EP Kings will be playing Wales; the Springboks take on Scotland on June 28 while the Southern Kings play the Bulls XV on June 20 and the Cell C Sharks XV on July 4, before the EP Kings Currie Cup Premier Division games kick off from August 8 through to October.

“Many have raised concerns that, with the Southern Kings currently out of Super Rugby, there will be no more top flight rugby until 2016, but this is most definitely not the case,” said EP Rugby CEO, Charl Crous.

“We have an amazing line-up of rugby over the coming months, and we have once again looked at making these games as affordable as possible for the general public.” Crous said EP Rugby had put together a number of value added offerings for the upcoming games that would suit any pocket, in an effort to make top flight rugby more accessible to the people of the city and province.

“Our premium package, the Royalty Ticket, is a hospitality offering for all the matches, including the Nelson Mandela Bay leg of the international IRB Sevens tournament in December, where our fans will be treated like royalty and will be able to enjoy all the matches in style,” he said.

At the price of R1775 rugby supporters can access the royalty lounge, which includes a fully stocked cash bar and a variety of hot meal options not available at the general kiosks.

“We have also recently launched what is undoubtedly one of the best known value-for-money ticket packages to go on sale, marketed under the ‘Get the Ticket’ campaign, which includes the Wales game, the Test Match as well as all the EP Kings Currie Cup Premier Division home matches for just R500,” he said.

Chief Executive of Access Management, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium operator, Chantal Du Pisani, said the stadium was gearing up to ensure that it was ready to host the tens of thousands of spectators who would be coming to watch the rugby.

“We want to ensure that every person who visits the stadium has the best possible experience, from the teams on the field to the spectators who come to watch them. Our team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that all the logistics are in place to make that happen,” he said.

Crous said individual tickets for the Test match, the Wales game as well as the two Super Rugby friendlies, would go on sale from next week Monday, May 19.
“Test match tickets will range from R75 to R450, the Wales match will range from R50 to R110, while the two Super rugby friendlies will range from R50 to R75 per game,” he said, encouraging sports fans to rather opt for the package deals available in support of the festival of rugby.

“We are also offering package deals on the Super rugby games, where a ticket to one game will cost you R75, you can get both games for R100, or if you opt for the R50 ticket per game, you can get both games for R75,” he said.

Crous said while individual tickets were exceptionally well priced, they were also limited in number.

“When it comes to international games there is always a huge demand for tickets, so we really want to encourage the general public to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment,” he said.

Individual tickets for Currie Cup matches will be made available later, once the individual match day details have been finalised.

All individual tickets will be available through Computicket outlets as well as through the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’s ticketing office, while package deals are only available through the Stadium’s ticketing office. For more details call 041 408 8900.
