Man Cave specialist and itinerant tinkerer Ryan Rusnak has the ultimate accessory for those long sessions in front of the TV watching sport – an iPhone controlled beer cannon.
Ryan’s mini fridge shoots beers via iPhone. It is controlled by an iobridge via a web based iPhone interface and shoots the beers from an air cannon in the fridge housing.
The beer cannon fridge ‘serves up’ four types of beer and even broadcasts the temperature which can be adjusted via iPhone. The application allows you to aim the beer cannon via a webcam mounted on the fridge. Each beer cannon shot is auto tweeted as the beer is fired from a 50psi compressor.
Rusnak said: “The cool part of the micro controller is that, in theory, anyone could log in and control the fridge. Our next big idea is throwing a party, people could log in and throw cans of beer at us.”
Users log into the fridge via a dedicated web server, using a web application developed by Ryan’s friend Josh Lilly. Another friend, Graham Phero, developed the air cannon construction.
Now all they need to add is a biltong tosser, build in a TV Remote and the Man Cave will be styling.
