One of the most popular events in the Eastern Cape Arts calendar is the “same size-same price-no signature” initially held at the Cuyler Street Gallery, and taken over by artEC, 36 Bird Street, Central with Tossie Theron’s blessing.

The “no signatures” is what makes it such fun, because all the works are unsigned, but if a potential buyer knows their artists well, they could spot something by a leading artist and get a real bargain!

ArtEC are very strict about no previews, and will be opening the doors at 17h30 sharp on the opening night, 28 February and giving buyers red dots as they enter so that they can rush around looking for that “something special.” We usually have queues around the block, as the event is eagerly attended by investors and art lovers, hoping to snag work by leading artists at a bargain price.

This year the works are 300x300mm and will sell for R750.

The Exhibition was hugely successful in 2010 and 2011 and has become an annual event which both artists and buyers look forward to, as local leading artists are good sports and support the event, to bring the fun “lucky purchase” element to the proceedings.
