Fun With Gino and Sharmain

10 November 2011 By Alan Straton

12 celebrities, 6 vehicles, 3 days and R100 000.00 in prizes.

At the launch of the Power Plate Incredible Race Eastern Cape 2011 at the Eastern Cape Motors William Moffet Showroom, young Gino Fabbri couldn’t help but steal the limelight and clown around with Sharmain Guest – who snagged the ‘member of the public’ slot on the EC Incredible Race and who will be partnering with ex Port Elizabeth boy, celebrity hunter extraodinaire and now celebrity in his own right, Clayton Morar to challenge for the R100 000.00.

Six teams, driving 6 vehicles will leave Port Elizabeth on 28 November to travel 700 kilometres – through the Karoo, down to Settler Country and back to Port Elizabeth – arriving on 30 November at Space Gym in Ring Road Greenacres. Along the way each tem will be accepting and completing challenges in a battle to see who can donate the largest amount of money to the charity of their choice.

The teams are:

  1. Makaya Ntini – Cricket legend (Charity: Makhaya’s Cricket Academy) and Gcobani Bobo – Rugby Legend (Charity: Makhaya’s Cricket Academy) driving a Nissan Qashqai sponsored by Your Money.
  2. Lauren Mungur – Algoa FM (Charity: Community Chest) and Derek Alberts – Supersport (Charity: Animal Anti-Cruelty) driving a Range Rover Evoque sponsored by Power Plate.
  3. Gino Fabbri- Comedian (Charity: ELSEN Academy) and Denver Burns – Mr. SA (Charity: Animal Welfare Society) driving a Volvo XC 60 sponsored by Pick n Pay
  4. Nandi Mnuna – Miss PE (Charity: Masinyusani) and Rory Duncan – EP Kings (Charity: Children’s Feeding Trust) driving a Ford Ranger sponsored by Ford
  5. Sharmain Guest – Member of Public (Charity: Commissioned to Go Ministries) and Clayton Morar – Celebrity Hunter (Charity: Algoa Bay Old Age Home) driving a Nissan Juke sponsored by Nedbank
  6. Mariska Spoormaker – Die Burger (Charity: Vistarus) and Selwyn Willis – Bay Fm (Charity: Commissioned to Go Ministries)

Alan Straton

Chief Cook, Bottle Washer and Broom Mechanic at MyPE
Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
