Free Legal Assistance To Business Leaders With Lockdown-Related Questions

Assistance given by way of free 30-minute virtual consultations with experienced lawyers

As one of its contributions to the business community, Caveat Legal, South Africa’s first online commercial legal consultancy, is providing free virtual consultations to business leaders and entrepreneurs to assist with legal questions they face flowing from the 21-day COVID-19 lockdown.

“At times like these, it makes sense for us to find ways to make our contribution using the education and experience that we have, and in the areas in which we can have the most impact,” says Yvonne Wakefield, founder and CEO of Caveat Legal. “Our economy is flailing and it’s urgent that we do all we can to support the brave entrepreneurs who underpin it,” she continues.

Caveat has also challenged its competitors, the Big Law incumbents, to step up to the plate and help. “There are thousands of excellent lawyers across the country, many of whom face slower workstreams due to the crisis. This is a perfect opportunity to put that freed-up capacity to good use” says Wakefield.

As a virtual business with systems designed to optimally support remote working, Caveat has seen an increase in workflows in the last month as the brick and mortar alternatives turned their focus to adapting to remote working. “Even though we are all pretty busy at the moment, our team of 55 lawyers have generously found spaces in their diaries to contribute to this cause”.
