Free Innovative Initiative Supporting Local Artists – MyPR.co.za

28 August 2020 By Port Elizabethan

Free Innovative Initiative Supporting Local Artists:

Dearest Nelson Mandela Bay Artists and Lovers of Art

Kindly go to our NMB Artist database (listing), it’s very easy to fill in your details. After completion, you will be profiled as a NMB artist (with your bio, short description, links, and images). Only enter information which you would like to share publicly.

1. The entry for a free artist listing is here https://mynmb.co.za/artists/list/

2. The Data captured, will be shared on the Facebook Nelson Mandela Bay Artist Database Group – here https://www.facebook.com/groups/artistdatabase/

3. The data captured via the listing entry will also appear as Nelson Mandela Bay artists, including bio, links, & 2 images (profile pic & example of art activity), here: https://mynmb.co.za/artists/

4. Data entered through the listing is also currently captured manually by me on an excel data sheet. This enables one to see all the information shared, in one go. I, in return, share this information regularly with updated files in our Group.

5. The reason why I initiated this database is because I believe that it is a critical essential for our artists to move forward more powerfully and successfully. Its actually something that the Dep of Arts and Culture and all relevant local Departments should have been doing since years ago. If they don’t know all our artists – how can they then serve artists properly?

6. I also believe that this database will provide insight by interested parties – if they might ‘for instance’ need a specific artist, or artists, for something – like a gig, performance, workshop, architecture, photography, mural, poetry, ceramists, etc. it would be easy to find such an artist through our NBM Artist Database list.

7. Its a service I do free of charge as I love art and I desire with all my heart for our artists to have the best opportunities.

8. My desire is for this Artist Data capturing movement to spread throughout our land. I have already been approached for assistance by artists from places like Tswane, Bloemfontein, Vosloorus, Roodepoort, etc. It is very obvious to me that this need is critical.

9. Our Artist Database does not belong to an individual or any organization. I have selected some Admins in our group to help me with the task of capturing.

10. If something should perhaps happen to me, I want this initiative to continue.

11. Since I began with this initiative on 20 Aug 2020 – Alan Straton from the MyPE & the MyNMB websites, has come on board. He has developed the database listing site, and he does so free of charge, because of his passion for our artists.

12. Finally, its my dream that our artists will embrace this NMB Artist Database project – as their own.

With warmest regards

Annette du Plessis
