Free Entry to all at Ironman Exhibition

6 March 2013 By Alan Straton

Ironman SA organisers have announced that the Ironman Exhibition linked to the April event will double in size and cater for both 2000 elite athletes and general consumers interested in health and fitness.

The official expo to Ironman South Africa is titled Health and Fitness Expo and will be hosted at the Boardwalk from April 11-14.

Expo spokesman Jeff Stubbings anticipates that over 100 health and fitness related brands, products and services from across South Africa will be exposed to more than 10 000 visitors.

“In previous years the expo was run mainly as a service to the participating athletes from around the world but Ironman SA has so gripped the imagination and participation of the public that it has been decided to add to the festivity of the event by broadening the expo’s appeal to all, not just elite athletes”, Stubbings said.

“Entry will be free to visitors and provide them with inspiration to live more active and healthy lives….perhaps even enter Ironman SA 2014.

“The expo part of Ironman SA is ready to play a much bigger part in the economy of the Metro and besides the festivity, will inject significant income into the coffers of the local tourism, expo and health industries.”

Stubbings said the Health and Fitness Expo had the potential to become one of the region’s flagship exhibitions, with the average footcount in the Boardwalk at approximately 60 000 during registration and race days.

ALL athletes registering for ALL races at Ironman SA, including Iron Girl, Pritt IRONKIDS and Vodacom Corporate Triathlon Challenge will be channelled through the Expo to the registration areas putting 4500 athletes past exhibitor stands.
