Free Contracts Made Easy Workshop

Small to medium businesses are invited to attend a free contracts made easy workshop at the Propella Business Incubator in Humerail.

“One of the struggles we have noticed here at Propella that small to medium business owners in the manufacturing and information technology sectors in particular have is drawing up contracts” says Ellen Fischat, business support manager at Propella.

Small to medium business owners in Nelson Mandela Bay are welcome to attend this Contract Made Easy workshop, which will be presented by Varonique Philander on Tuesday, March 15.

“Entrepreneurs often do not realise that a contract is more than just a piece of paper.

“It should establish and regulate the terms and conditions of a business relationship. Therefore, it is essential to know what the contract aims to achieve and what your duties are in terms of the agreement,” says Philander.

“Many entrepreneurs only discover once a dispute has arisen that they did not fully understand the terms and conditions of the contract. At this workshop we hope to minimise this error and help entrepreneurs in being proactive instead of reactive,” says Fischat.

The workshop will be covering the basic essentials of what constitutes a valid contract, what are the differences between a verbal and written contract, a checklist of common clauses that you will find in most business contracts, it will also be highlighting what to check before signing any contract and how contracts are enforced in Court says Philander.

Philander has her BCom Law and LLB from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, and is the managing director of her own company called Chaya Legal.
