Four Arrested in Uitenhage for Possession of Illegal Firearms

Four suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms: Uitenhage
Members from Uitenhage SAPS were busy patrolling the Kruisrivier business area on Sunday morning at 08:30, when they spotted four males driving suspiciously around in the area with a red Toyota Tazz.

Members pulled the vehicle over in Schonland Street, Uitenhage and searched the vehicle. Members found two unlicensed 9mm firearms and a replica AK47 (plastic) in the vehicle. The four males (ages between 31 and 55) were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms. Police also confiscated the Toyota Tazz and handed it in as an exhibit.

Crime scene experts will establish if there is ammunition in the firearms and additional charges will be added.

The foursome are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 7 March 2017, on charges of illegal possession of unlicensed firearms. Additional charges might be added.
