Fords 3 Millionth Engine rolls off Port Elizabeth line

10 July 2014 By Port Elizabethan

50 years in operation and 3 million engines later – such is the Ford Motor Companies commitment to Port Elizabeth – the Detroit of Africa. FMCSA first opened their engine plant in 1964 and initially only produced engines for the local market. Now the PE plant exports to Asia, North and South America.

Engine number 3 000 000 is a 3.2 litre 5-cylinder Duratorq TDCi engine which is destined to power some lucky Ford Ranger owner’s vehicle.

Here Jim Benintende, President of Ford Motor Company Middle East and Africa, followed by Ockert Berry, Vice President of Operations congratulate employees on their significant achievement as the 3 millionth engine makes it’s slow way past them.
