The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) is saddened to announce the passing of its Chief Financial Officer Sivuyile Bulube on Monday 13 July 2020.
Mr Bulube passed on due to COVID-19 related complications.
Sivu, as he was affectionately known, joined ECDC on 01 April 2015 as a Senior Manager: Management Accounting. From 01 March 2019 he was appointed as ECDC CFO. He served ECDC with diligence and immense pride. The Corporation takes this opportunity to pass on its sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues who were touched by Sivu’s life in one way or another.
Sivu will be laid to rest on 18 July 2020 at 7am and the funeral will be broadcast live on the ECDC Facebook page. His memorial service will be held on 24 July 2020 at 10am via Zoom.
“ECDC and its people are privileged to have had Sivu at its employ over the last five years. He has served the Corporation and the people of the Eastern Cape with humility and diligence. A man always with a smile on his face with a gentle temperament, his wise counsel and leadership of the finance function will be sorely missed.
“On behalf of ECDC I send my heartfelt condolences to the Bulube family particularly to his wife and his son. ECDC is offering group counselling to all staff via Microsoft Teams and individual or more intense personal interventions are also available to help staff cope during this difficult period,” says ECDC chief executive officer Ndzondelelo Dlulane.
Dlulane says ECDC has not been immune from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with Bulube being the fifth staff member to test positive for the coronavirus since 30 June. Of the five, two have since recovered. As a result, ECDC has closed its offices – the Queenstown regional office and its East London head office until further notice to allow decontamination measures to take place. ECDC will ensure that staff only return to the office once a safe and conducive working environment is achieved to protect the lives of its team.
“We would like to wish all who have tested positive for the coronavirus a speedy recovery. In the meantime, ECDC will continue to service its clients remotely,” says Dlulane.
