Oklahoma! is being staged at the Savoy Theatre from 18 May to 4 June 2011 (run extended due to demand) and one of the leads is Faye Gatley as Ado Annie Carnes.
Faye Gatley is a singer, songwriter and professional performer.
Faye first entered the theatre world in Fiddler on the Roof in 2005 for G&S. In 2007 she appeared in Footloose and then won her first lead role as “Paris” in the PEMADS pantomime Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood for which she received the award for Best Supporting Actress. Playing the lead role of Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie is the highlight of her theatrical career where she performed alongside Judy Page and Brendon van Rhyn.
She made her radio debut in 2010 when her single “Dear Santa” was playlisted on several radio stations across South Africa over the festive season. Faye enjoys performing at local PE Hotspots, charity events, festivals, weddings and corporate events, with her most recent performance at the Nelson Mandela Bay Splash Festival.

Oklahoma!, presented by the Port Elizabeth Gilbert & Sullivan Society, tells the story of a handsome cowboy winning the heart of a headstrong farm girl in Oklahoma territory at the turn of the 20th Century and has entranced theatregoers for generations. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s award-winning score features the title song “Oklahoma!” and also includes “I’m Just a Girl Who Cain’t Say No,” “The Farmer and the Cowman”, “People Will Say We’re In Love,” and “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning.” This much loved musical premiered in 1943 and was a box office smash, running for an unprecedented 2,212 performances. There have been many revivals over the years including the acclaimed 1998 London production starring Hugh Jackman and the show has been a huge hit with audiences time after time.
The show is set for a limited run from 18 May to 4 June 2011 (run extended due to demand) at The Savoy Theatre in Port Elizabeth with tickets available for R110 at all Computicket outlets. A special discount has been created for students and pensioners who can get tickets at the door on the night of the show for a largely discounted rate of R80. Student/pensioner cards must be produced to qualify for this discount and regretfully only door bookings can be made.
