Entries are open for this year’s Soccer Challenge – and the sponsors are looking for the Bay soccer stars of the future.
There will be Five-a-side foot ball fun on Sunday, October 16 at the Dave Weinronk Sports Fields (VP Sports Grounds).
“We would like to see many more schools fielding teams. The Metro needs a soccer culture so we can get into the league and fill our stadium with soccer fans on a more regular basis,” says Dave Tiltmann. “There are also some fantastic prizes up for grabs,” he added
“Both sponsors have entered teams, and are looking forward to their clash in the final and welcome any competition from other corporates, especially other media teams,” says Tiltmann.
Schools, social soccer clubs and corporates are all challenged to enter teams for the tournament.
Teams will do battle in three categories for the 2011 Challenge including Schools, Social and Championship.
The winning championship team will walk away with a grand prize of R3 500, and the winning social team will receive top quality Puma products worth R3 000.
The entry fee per ten-player team is R550 for juniors, R650 for social teams and R750 for senior teams.
“We would like to encourage the people of Port Elizabeth to take part in the spirit of wellness and healthy competition.” says Sandile Mkari.
