Automotive Industry Development Centre Skills Development and Training Manager, Estelle Gathercole won the Most Influential Woman in Business and Government Award (MiW) in the automotive category.

The twelfth annual, national awards presented by ‘CEO Communications’ magazine, acknowledges inspirational women achievers in business and government who are working for the benefit of South Africa, its economy, and its future generations.

The awards function was held at the Radisson Hotel this morning when Estelle, who works for the Eastern Cape’s Automotive Industry Development Centre, was named South Africa’s Most Influential Woman in Business and Government in the automotive sector.

From thousands of initial nominees Estelle was one of the 60 finalists to make it through the first and second phases of the awards’ judging process.  The finalists represented 28 sectors ranging from Aerospace and Defence, to Welfare and Related Community Services.

To be considered for the awards, nominees must be able to positively put their influence to work in several areas:  human capital development, creating awareness of their industry interests/needs, growing profitability/sustainability, promoting world-class performance or best practice and personally participating in social responsibility actions.
