At the EP Cricket AGM meeting held on 24 September 2011, it was resolved, on recommendation of the EP Nominations Committee, that the election of the EP Cricket President and the Audit and Risk Chairman take place on 21 October 2011.
Nominations were then submitted to the EP Nominations Committee comprising Ray Mali, Advocate Soeklaar and Gerald Majola.
The Nominations Committee finalized its process on 13 October 2011 and reported to the EP Cricket Board on 18 October 2011.
Mr Ray Mali met with Mr Rajan Moodaley before reporting to the Board and informed him of the recommendations of the Nominations Committee.
The Nominations Committee made the following recommendations:
- Dr Malcolm Figg was unopposed in his nomination as Chairman of Risk and Audit and his nomination was accepted.
- On the nomination of the President, the Nominations Committee informed the Board that even though Mr Moodaley has been a servant of cricket and had made contributions at club level, there were concerns about his candidacy.
After much deliberation, the EP Cricket Board in the interest of cricket in the region, unanimously accepted the views of the Nominations Committee and declined the nomination of Mr Moodaley.
The EP Cricket Board has therefore decided to leave the position of the President vacant and that Mr Vuyo Ntshwalana will continue in his role of Acting President until the board decides on an appropriate time to fill the position of President.
Issued on behalf of EP Cricket Board
