Does your WordPress Add Media or Tag insert not work?

WordPress has just updated from Version 3.9 to Version 4.0. As is always the case with a major number update I always wait a day or two before pushing the update button on one of my sites, checking it, and then updating the rest.

As luck would have it MyPE had a problem with the latest update in that I was unable to Add Media or Insert Tags. A workaround for Adding Media was to use the Add Featured Image facility until I could get time to research the problem.

Normally what happens is that these kinds of problems are Plugin related and one has to deactivate all the plugin, check if that fixes the problem and then one by one re-activate each plugin, checking after each time if the problem re-occurs.

Luckily other people have also posted their plugins which caused the problem so I was able to hone in on mine very quickly.

Here is a small list of the plugins that caused the problem – please add any that you discover in the comments section:

  • Markdown Quicktags
  • Comprehensive Google Map Plugin – Breaks Media buttons
  • Genesis Title Toggle – Breaks Media buttons
  • All in one SEO Pack
  • CKEditor for WordPress

You could also just wait until the developer updates the plugin …….
