Sometimes it takes just a little bit of management to save a lot of money.
Today’s suggestion is quite simple:
If you search for Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Google your expectations should be very high to see the web site for the municipality as the NUMBER ONE (organic) listing in the results page.
As it is the first page of results is dominated by listings that will take you directly to the web site or directly to social media accounts or directly to other sites that point back to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality web site.
The ‘art’ of making sure that your web site appears many times on the front page is referred to as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
IF you look at the screenshot of the search term ‘Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’ below you will see that the VERY FIRST listing is an Ad – Adverts on Google are paid for listings that place you ABOVE everyone else for one simple reason – people invariably click on the FIRST result. And, by clicking on the advert you are: 1. Earning Google money and 2. Costing the advertiser (the Municipality in this case) money.
So why the Big Deal you may ask?
Simply put – The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is wasting money with their Google Adwords campaign by targeting the words ‘Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’ for which they already rank high via SEO.
How can they fix it?
Remove that set of keywords from their Google Adwords campaign.
