DASO shows growth in University of Fort Hare SRC elections

The Democratic Alliance Youth and the Democratic Alliance Student Organisation in the Eastern Cape would like to congratulate our fellow Democrats at the University of Fort Hare on their results for the Student Representative Council elections that took place yesterday.

DASO UFH contested in the SRC elections for the first time last year and went on to win 3 seats on the Council. This year we have shown some growth in our support on the campus, winning 4 seats. DASO won 1 seat at the East London campus, 2 seats at the Alice campus and 1 seat on the Institutional SRC.

Fort Hare is historically known to be a SASCO strong hold, particularly at the Alice campus, and the steady growth that DASO has shown at that campus and in the institution as a whole indicates that the student body is becoming more open to DASO and the DA. The clear objective is to gradually win over the hearts of the students of Fort Hare through the good, clean and effective service of our in-coming public representatives.

DASO will now continue to mobilise students at Fort Hare towards the 7th of May, bringing them the DA’s offer on Higher Education through the currently on-going National DASO campaign. The campaign kicked-off successfully at the Alice campus on Monday, 14th of April with the DA Youth Federal Chairperson, Yusuf Cassim, and DA MP candidate, Nqaba Bhanga.
