Port Elizabeth is in for a treat as blues-phenomenon, Dan Patlanksy, heads to the friendly city for one performance only as part of his Winter Tour 2013. Patlanksy, who is the most respected blues artist to ever come out of South Africa, will be performing at the Savoy Theatre on Saturday the 20th of July.
Dan Patlansky, who just won a golden 2013 Standard Bank Ovation Award (the only one for 2013’s festival), will be making his way to Port Elizabeth from the Grahamstown National Arts Festival where he played to sold out venues. Tickets for the long overdue Port Elizabeth show are available from Computicket only and are expected to go fast.
The legendary blues artist, who has been described as a “conglomerate of charisma, charm and musical genius”, released his first acoustic album, Wooden Thoughts, at a concert in Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town earlier this year. Audiences at Dan Patlanksy’s winter shows can expect to enjoy a mix of new acoustic tracks and well-known Dan Patlansky favourites.
The electric material will be from his 2012 release 20 Stones that was voted as the 10th best Blues Rock album of 2012 by the Blues Rock Review based in the United States
Dan Patlansky will be showcasing his talent in September in the UK along with his good friend, renowned finger picking guitarist Nibs van der Spuy.
