Local football team Chippa United Football Club (CUFC) have officially withdrawn from this year’s edition of the Home of Legends Cup 2024 due to unforeseen circumstances. Chippa United Football Club (CUFC) will be replaced by Cape Town powerhouse and established Betway Premiership outfit, Cape Town City Football Club. (CTFC)

Cape Town City Football Club (CTFC) bring forth a wealth of Betway Premiership experience having finished in the top 8 of the Betway Premiership for the past 6 seasons. What adds to the excitement and fanfare of this latest edition to the Home of Legends Cup roster is that Cape Town City are previous winners of the MTN 8, which is one of South Africa’s premier domestic cup competitions. This calibre of opposition will bring a competitive edge and excitement to this inaugural Home of Legends Cup 2024 and add to eye balls and spectators who follow Cape Town City in the Gqeberha region and the Eastern Cape in general.

Not withstanding the latest club addition, the Home of Legends Cup will be graced by Betway Premiership titans and established outfits in the form of Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club as well as the Cape Town City Football Cub.

Patrons are also welcomed to make their way to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’s ticket office to purchase their All Access pass valued at R199.00 per person. This All Access pass presents a once in a life time opportunity to witness six of Mzansi’s finest musical giants performing live and uncut at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium inner bowl and will be ably supported by talented local acts who will also form part of this momentous Home of Legends Cup spectacle.

Moreover, this year’s edition of the Home of Legends Cup Semi-Final round of fixtures have been finalised through an interactive online polling system which has allowed the public to vote on teams that they would like to witness playing in the Semi-Finals.

The Semi-finals, determined by the polling results as voted by the public, will be as follows:

  • Semi-Final 1 – Kaizer Chiefs Football Club vs. Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club – Kick-off – 10:00am
  • Semi-Final 2 – (Chippa United Football Club, to now be replaced) Cape Town City Football Club vs Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club – Kick-off – 13:00pm
  • Semi-Final 1 (Winner) vs. Semi-Final 2 (Winner) – Grand Home of Legends Cup Final – Kick-off – 17:00pm
