Cuba´s Vice President of the Council of State Salvador Valdés Mesa visits South Africa:
Cuba´s vice President of the Council of State, Salvador Valdés Mesa will pay an official visit to South Africa from January 31 to February 2, 2017, within the mutual aim of consolidating the political and economic links between the two countries. He will meet with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, and review with South African officials the state of the bilateral cooperation and the conditions to expand it as an example of south-south cooperation.
As part of his program, Valdés Mesa will pay tribute to the late Oliver Tambo in the context of his 100th anniversary, with a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of Oliver and Adelaide Tambo in Tamboville, Ekurheleni.
The visit will serve as an opportunity to reiterate the profound gratitude of the people and the government of Cuba for the wide demonstrations of solidarity and compassion expressed by South Africans during the funerals of the late Fidel Castro Ruz, Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution.
