This morning the Official Kit Sponsors of the Southern and EP Kings extended their largess to cover the EP Academy players as well.
Commenting on the ‘subtle’ tactics employed by EP Academy Coach Robbie Kempson, Puma representative Martin Nefdt said; “It is a great pleasure for Puma to be involved and Robbie did a lot of ‘nudging’ every time we played Golf.”
Puma will be supplying the boots and trainers for a 3 year period.
I can only say that rugby boots have come a long way since I last strapped a pair on and then walked on the tar to sharpen the studs! For one thing they are very, very light and the pair given to Siyanda Mangaliso had a Carbon Fibre insert to negate stud pressure, whilst another pair had kangaroo leather as an upper – is that to make the locks jump higher?
But, most appalling of all, was that these boots are certainly not cheap – try a retail price exceeding R3 000.00 for size!
