Controlled blasting on the R72 between Birah River and Openshaw Village

Eastern Cape, 4 May 2018: The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify travellers that controlled blasting is scheduled to take place on the R72 between Birah River an Openshaw Village, from Monday, 7 May until Wednesday, 9 May, from 1pm until 3pm.

  • On Monday the road will be closed between Hamburg turn off and Gcinisa.
  • On Tuesday the road will closed between Wesley and Birah.
  • On Wednesday the road will be closed between Gcinisa and Hamburg turn off.

“Motorists are asked to plan their trips accordingly and to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Manager.

SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused.
